I chose the Chocolate Mousse Cherimoya in a Cup, that was nice. Very decadent, and was enjoyed by all the surrounding passengers! There were extras of Chocolate Cup available, and passengers were offered a second helping. We politely declined. Desert and tea service continues until midnight, and the cabin lights were dimmed to sleep at 1210 AM for a few hours.
Air Canadaoffers its business class passengers very comfortable, warm and a little heavy comforters, blankets instead of just airlines offered are thin on others. This is a very beautiful, unique touch that ads to increase comfort during sleep when the cabin can be quite cool on long-haul flights. That is, the cabin was at an optimum temperature for the entire flight (not excessively hot and not too cold). Personal DVD players and movies were available for passengers in Business Class "Use in flight, the in-flight dining room were fully stocked with sandwiches, snacks and beverages between meals for the passengers request and invited to help themselves as needed.
Following a very comfortable six hours sleep (I actually slept for a solid six hours), the cabin lights dimmed am 0630, accompanied by a hot face cloth and orange juice service, gently awakens the passengers from their slumber. We were now in 90 minutes before our arrival, Toronto. Fifteen minutes later, acold plate was served breakfast consisting of sausage and a generous mix of fresh fruits (including grapefruit, mango, orange and watermelon), supplemented by bread, preservatives, cereals, yogurt and other drinks served out of the car. I thought this was the rate of breakfast to follow but to my surprise, a hot tomato and ham omllette plate with sausage and potatoes, which was very nice.
Clock at 0730 about 10 hours after departure, we heard the last from theFlight deck when the first officer informed us that we had started our decent, the current temperature of 2 degrees was C in Toronto, and we would end up in 35 minutes (at 605 Clock time) and parking at Gate 155 are in Toronto's New Terminal 1 I packed my kit and in-flight crashed into the lav fast refresh and the flight attendants were now all Service Points preparing the cabin for landing. We landed at 0610 AM and arrived at the gate some 155 to 0622 AM 22 minutesAfter the planned execution of the flight arrival time, AM 0600. When we were first passengers off the plane, we were quickly processed through customs and immigration authorities, but to our dismay, our luggage had not dealt with priority and we waited about 20 minutes for it to arrive on the tape.
Overall impression:
Air Canada's J-cabin flight attendants and the In-Charge Gloria were extremely friendly and attentive to the passengers, and behaved in a professional manner and yet inviting.They were always available, and conducted their operations with a smile, and really made the passengers feel welcome, and are the best grades earned. The quality, quantity and presentation was the food and beverage service excellent, and gets top marks. Cabin comfort was good with generous seat pitch (better than the 767-300 we flew United ORD-EZE) and the flight attendants told us that is not fully adjustable seats will be replaced shortly, if Air Canada expands its fleet with the New Business ClassInteriors, which are currently being introduced fleet-wide.
Several areas for improvement: The lack of pre-boarding Business Class passengers in Santiago, the lack of communication from the cockpit, the poor magazine selection for Business Class passengers, the lack of a pre-departure beverage service, and lack of priority baggage handling in Toronto for the Business Class passenger baggage are small dots on their own but hurt as a whole from what would have been differentwas a flawless flight. As such, the flight is a 8.5 of 10 points.
